A few weeks ago, Dan and Ian mentioned that they would be inviting Dan Norris back onto the program.

Dan Norris is the author of The 7 Day Startup, and he is (frankly) a business idea generating machine. We’ve covered success stories on this show that came from some of Dan’s many ideas.

In this conversation, true to form, Dan Norris donates a ton of business ideas, as well as sharing how he has been able to create a six-figure side hustle through self-publishing books.

If you are looking for your next entrepreneurial adventure, this could be the episode for you.

Listen to this week’s show and learn:

  • Where Dan was at in his life when he decided to start a productized service business. (3:35)
  • Why Dan decided to write The 7-Day Startup. (8:41)
  • Two business ideas that Dan is considering pursuing himself. (11:15)
  • Why Dan believes there is money in video content. (20:40)
  • What Dan’s writing process looks like. (38:55)

wow, that was quite a brainstorm session. Besides biz ideas I found these 2 takeaways meaningful:
    – DN (2 Dan’s here), was working as hard before as he is now, but now he gets the results. Makes me want to compare with this metaphor: like blowing wind either to nowhere or to a sail which can move the ship. Even thought the idea is not new to me sometimes its good hear things that matter.
    – people that support or close to you might are most likely hurting you. This just goes so against common wisdom, but on other hand so easy to fall in this trap precisely because of that.

One thing I probably didn’t got fully is “get good at sales”, was just an exercise for finding what good are you at really? Or just forces you to think other ways of selling.
I liked the instagram idea just because I fallen into the same bias group that its just a “another photo sharing” site, while getting this constant feedback that its much more than that – will need reread 7 day startup and look at it more closely…:)

  • cheers Evaldas glad you dug it!

  • Great episode Dans! I really liked the idea of offering facebook retargeting setup & management to local businesses using FOMO in terms of their competitors already doing it, really great sell. I created a productized services funnel I’m now giving away for as a free template which I used to launch my funnel biz, happy to drop link if cool. Cheers!

Love the “Donate a business idea” episodes, especially this one. Got me to finally take action on an idea I’ve had that Dan mentioned, creating content upgrades.

Just put together a quick website and threw up a few paypal buttons to get started. Now I’ll be reaching out to some sites to offer up our services :)

Thanks for finally pushing me to pull the trigger on this idea!
